The BBA in Finance prepares business students for a career in banking, investments, financial planning, real estate, insurance, corporate finance, and other financial areas. The small upper-level finance classes allow valuable interaction with faculty members possessing a wealth of financial experience. Finance majors are encouraged to apply for the Clayton Investment Team, the College of Business' $1 million student-managed investment fund. Since 2007, the Clayton Fund has provided real-world experience to students and is an invaluable learning tool that can distinguish the FHU finance graduate in the job market.
Freed-Hardeman University's B.B.A. in Finance was welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program in June of 2015. The B.B.A. in Finance incorporates at least 70 percent of the CFA Program Candidate Body of Knowledge (CBOK) and places emphasis on the CFA Institute Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice within the program. This program positions students well to obtain the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Entry into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program signals to potential students, employers, and the marketplace that Freed-Hardeman University's curriculum is closely tied to professional practice and is well-suited to preparing students to sit for the CFA examinations. Through participation in this program, Freed-Hardeman University is eligible to receive a limited number of student scholarships for the CFA Program each year.
Each fall, students in FIN386 Financial Markets and Institutions complete Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) receiving Bloomberg Certification and valuable exposure to this industry-leading financial data platform. Additionally, FHU is an active participant in the CFA Institute Research Challenge. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual, global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.
Chartered Financial Analyst® is a registered trademark owned by CFA Institute.
